Walmart Offers Videogame Trade-In Kiosks
Video game business is fast moving one and new titles are released almost every single day. Game developers are constantly improving graphics, animation and sound of the games bringing gaming experience to new levels. Eventually you get bored with the game you played so many times or , after spending your hard earned money, you find out that game was not worth buying at all. I agree, some games are classic and they should always be part of your gaming library forever but some are just dust collectors in your home.
Now, thanks to Walmart and its Videogame Trade-In Kiosks, you get chance to get rid of them and still earn some money.
Designed by e-Play, a company that currently operates kiosks similar to Redbox, automated “Video Game Buy Back” kiosks will accept a customer’s game by scanning the bar code on the game box. From there, the customer will receive a quote for buying back their game.
After accepting the quote and inserting a disc into machine , money for the games will be put back on customer’s credit card in 2-3 days. It is still not clear how system will respond to damaged cd’s, if that type of check is put in the place by reading data tracks.
The success of these trial run really depends on how much credit users will get back for their old games( Credit can range from 50 cents to $25 according to e-Play). Considering delay between the trade-in and receiving money, well established GameStop seems like a much more attractive option in almost every way.
Only 2% of Walmart stores are currently carrying the kiosks, with the plan to increase the number if the trial proves to be a success.
