Not an ordinary Hammock

Lazy summer afternoon are upon us and it is time to bring out patio furniture and relax in our backyard or, if you are lucky enough( I mean rich), on your own private beach. As for me, my favorite relaxation place is good old hammock I enjoyed for many years on my back patio. And then, while I was checking the latest outdoor gadgets I came across this “thing”. First time I saw this creation my first thought was:”Is this something you relax on while in the Heaven?”. I have to admit, there is something unearthly about this hammock.

Creators of this amazing piece are two artisans from Sweden who must got inspiration while sitting under hot sun all day. Actually, according to these two guys, this self-suspended hammock is the culmination of 20 years of research and design. Making this hammock reality is also time consuming since it is handmade by painstakingly molding each piece during a process that requires four weeks to craft just one.
Measuring 12′ long by 8 1/4′ wide, it uses 9 1/2′ long electro-polished stainless steel pole that is curved to form a half circle. Smart design enables both ends of the bed to be hung from the pole therefore supporting the entire hammock. After spending so many years on design they came up with the idea how to protect you against sometimes harmful sun rays without obstructing the view. The sheer canopy blocks up to 86% of UV rays yet allows you to gaze at the sky. The hammock easily accommodates two people so you can enjoy the relaxing sensation of swaying gently under the canopy of a tree with someone special in your life.

Regretfully, I will pass on this gadget( for now) and spend this summer relaxing in my old hammock since price tag of $35,000 is “out-of-this-world”.
