Magic of Asus Disney Netpal

Take “regular looking” gadget, theme it with characters from latest blockbuster hits and you get hot selling item, at least with younger generation of cool gadgets lovers. That type of “visual” reinvention of existing products is quite popular among companies and Asus is not exception. This notebook manufacturer has teamed up with Disney to release a version of their Eee PC which is aimed at kids, the Asus Disney Netpal. Luckily, they went extra mile and did not stop at just putting profitable Disney’s logo on notebook casing.
Designed with parents and kids in mind, the Disney Netpal has a reinforced mechanical design which is good thing. Beside regular hardware features found on standard edition of Eee PC such as an 8.9-in. LCD display, Intel ATOM N270, camera and Wi-Fi, the Netpal comes with customized Disney user interface of Windows XP Home. In addition, it is also packed with “more than 40 robust parental control options” and kid-friendly software featuring Disney characters.
The system’s Disney browser is preloaded with numerous kid-friendly Disney websites for kids to explore, and the 2D “gadget tray” (aka Windows taskbar, or OS X dock) displays visual icons for easy access to applications.
Since this is notebook for kids, special thought is given to online safety. Browser and e-mail on the device have extra filters to assure that parents are able to control content and contacts for their children.
The Disney Netpal will be available in late July in two models (Disney Princess Pink and Disney Magic Blue) with suggested retail price of $349.
